Teaching students about Rabies
Preventing rabies is a community effort, and as teachers, we play a crucial role in encouraging students, parents, and caregivers to take action and keep everyone safe. Here are four actions you can take:
- Learn about rabies: Understanding what rabies is, how it spreads, and its symptoms will help you create awareness and promote preventive actions among students, parents, and caregivers.
- Teach how to care for dogs and be kind to them: Educating children on how to properly care for their dogs can help keep the dogs healthy and safe from rabies and other diseases.
- Teach students how to interact safely with dogs and identify signs of rabies: Whether a dog is stray or not, children should be cautious when interacting with dogs to avoid being attacked, especially in communities where rabies may be present.
- Teach children what to do if bitten or scratched: Children should know what to do if bitten, scratched, or licked by a dog.
