Teach children to recognize a dog with rabies and report it 🛑
The first step is to learn to identify a dog with rabies so you can teach it to your children.
The only way to know for sure if an animal has rabies is if a veterinarian checks the dog's brain after it has died. But some signs may indicate that a dog could have rabies. For example, if the dog is:
- Acting strangely and being aggressive (barking, biting) without a reason.
- Looking weak and sleepy, not interested in anything.
- Not able to stand or walk normally.
- Having foam around its mouth.
- Barking in a strange way, different from usual.
Remember: It's not always easy to tell if an animal has rabies just by looking at it. Sometimes, we only know for sure after it dies. For example, a dog with rabies usually gets very sick and dies within 7-10 days. If a dog looks very sick but doesn't die within 10 days, it probably doesn't have rabies

Warn your children to stay away from dogs and other animals acting this way, and to immediately report to you, a teacher, a health worker, or any other adult about the sick dog.
