What to do if bitten, scratched or liked by a rabid dog?
If you or someone else is bitten, scratched, or licked by a dog that might have rabies, it is very important to:
- Wash the wound with lots of running water and soap for at least 15 minutes to fully flush the wound.
- Right after that, tell your parents, teacher, or a health worker what happened, or ask to go to a health center. A health worker will decide if you or the person bitten, licked, or scratched must be vaccinated against rabies.
You should do this even if you're not sure the dog has rabies.
Remember: If you see someone bitten by a dog, a dog acting strangely, or a dog that gets sick and dies, tell your parents, caregivers, teacher, or a health worker right away. 🐶🚨
