Growing up strong and healthy

Children age five have achieved greater control of their bodies and can easily move and coordinate big and small muscles. You may have noticed your child is active and enjoys showing off physical skills. If you like being active, surely your child will enjoy it too and you can enjoy doing physical activities outdoors or playing sports together.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • 5 years old are more coordinated and enjoy showing off how they can climb and jump

  • They can learn to ride a bike, skip, going up and down stairs

  • They can also exhibit better coordination (improved motor skills)

  • Stands on one foot for 10 seconds or longer

  • Hops and may be able to skip

  • Can do a whole-body tumble on the floor

  • Uses cutlery at the table and cuts with knife

  • Uses the toilet on their own

  • Swings and climbs

  • Ties shoelaces, brush their hair and button clothes
