Comforting 6 - 9 month old babies

WHAT YOU CAN DO AND LOOK OUT FOR

  • Offer opportunities for your baby to handle safe and clean objects of various textures and shapes.

You will see her/him trying to pass things from hand to hand and to other people, dropping them to see where they fall, what sounds they make, or if someone will pick them up.

  • Call your child’s name regularly.

Notice your child’s expression change, showing how he/she responds to your call.

  • Sing a simple melody while sitting with a small group of babies and infants.

Your baby will slowly memorize her/his name and realize you are talking about her/him.

  • Look at your baby's picture books and ask simple picture questions. This will help them use words or show them understanding.

By following pictures with her / his eyes, your baby will show interest and try to memorize them.

  • React to the sounds and interests of your child.

Notice your baby’s confidence and self-esteem increase.

  • Make up a book with bright pictures and talk about the pictures.

This should help your baby listen and memorize things.

  • Use a simple puppet and tell a story to your child.

You will see your baby’s happiness and attention growing.
