Growing strong, healthily and happy with own image

Children at 6 years of age show much progress in physical development and begin to have a greater control of what they do with their bodies in terms of movements and physical skills. You may have given your child a bicycle already and he/she likes showing off how good he/she is. Children also enjoy playing sports and it is a good time to encourage them to do so.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • They like moving, jumping and running and they use their skills to try out new play activities and sports

  • Their eye-hand-foot coordination is still developing, and they keep trying with throwing and catching a ball, for example

  • Their skills amongst peers differ and this is due to difference on time dedicated to physical activities

  • Able to run in various pathways and directions

  • They manipulate their bodies by jumping and landing

  • They roll and transfer their weight from feet to hands and back

  • They take part in activities such as dance lessons, team sports or actively play with friends

  • They share tasks with family members and enjoy contributing with small things to a happy family life.
